I'm into vintage items too. i think vintage clothing is gorgeous and bold and you can never find anything like it today. i live in LA, so it's pretty easy to come across another girl who's wearing something i know at least ten other girls own. i like not being a part of that group of girls. at times my mom argues with me about it and its really annoying. she doesn't go as far as believing the items are tainted or cursed or anything but occasionally she says that i should purchase new clothes instead of "used" items. its not like theyre filthy. i go to great vintage boutiques that carry excellent quality vintage. vintage clothes are actually a lot better quality than the mass produced commercial items many other teens buy today. a lot of my vintage clothes are designer items which i bought for insanely reasonable prices and seem to be just as well-made as non-designer vintage items and current designer clothing. and as Skylark said, buying vintage is like recycling. why throw away perfect clothes? many people think that teenagers buy vintage because they have little money but there are great benefits even if that is the case. it's odd that my parents would disagree with me buying vintage because pretty much every thing in my house is antique. my mom also collects antique jewelry and she has a ring which she bought from a titanic survivor a while ago and i'm pretty sure her "spirit" hasn't been haunting her. anyway i think your mother is just being superstitious and ridiculous and that you should be allowed to buy what you want with your own money. inexpensive + beautiful fashionable clothes = win-win situation EDIT (((((Skylark))))) and who has been contaminating these perfectly wonderful answers w/ thumbs downs?? hmm trolls

It means that it's not perfect - has a little imperfection... usually unnoticeable. :o)
