We are kind of hoping to go to Manila for a short visit this year, but we do not wish to stick out like a sore thumb & I would also want to know what clothes to give people living there as "pasalubong".
So what does a normal teen, a normal 20 year old & a normal 30 yo male or female wear in Manila, in the sun & in the rain, night or day, mall or club.
Please be as specific as possible, including styles, brand names, colors, etc.

The safest would be shirts and jeans. Among the young and the not-so-young, shirts and jeans have become the de facto gimmick wear. Not unless, of, course, they are going to a place with a prescribed dress code.
For color, earth colors are still de riguer for the older set, while the young are licensed to be as flamboyant as they would want to be.
For the older ones, a shirt with collar is best. They can wear this out of town, or wear this when dining in some posh restaurant in Greenbelt, and still not look out of place. Preferred brands would be Lacoste and other brands within this class.
Jeans would be more difficult to give as gifts, unless you know their waistlines. But for you, Japs, you can go around even in jeans, as long as they are not the "washed out, torn on the knees" style.
For footwear, rubber shoes will go best with jeans and/or slacks.
Wearing long sleeved polo shirts is considered dressier when in the malls or while dining. Only those who are dining with clients, straight from their offices, wear long sleeved shirts to these dining places. These types even dine wearing their barongs, short or long-sleeved ones.
Make sure your outfit matches the weather. if you are coming in summer, be sure to wear light comfortable clothes, preferably made of cotton. You would not want to look like you came from a ski resort, minus the ski outfit, in the heat of Manila's tropical summer.
Females, young and old, also wear shirts and jeans. They can wear cocktail dresses for dressier dinners in classier venues like Greenbelt or Ortigas. Unless the occasion is formal, high-heeld shoes are not advised. Although I have seen some really vavavoom ladies wearing shirts, tight jeans, and stilletos. looking gorgeous!
Ultimate piece of advice: better be overdressed than underdressed. When uncertain, err on the side of over-dressing. You can always say you are used to being more formal where you come from.
Female teens and those in their 20's are into anything colorful. Short dresses and shorts. The weather is pretty hot already. Summer is already making a comeback.
Shorts are in as well. For a more casual outfit, skinny jeans for women (there's a 1% in the pop'n that wears bootlegs right now).
Key: Anything colorful like yellow, purple, red, green. Floral blouses (i think are in as well along with cardigans - also for the 30-ish)
For males, polo shirt and jeans, and a pair of sneakers, never goes out of style.
This season, people are into anything colorful. Brands don't really matter that much.

They all wear jeans mate trust me. Jeans, simple tee and nice shoes. They keep it simple there but the trick is to wear the better quality stuff and also some nice accesories to back it up. Don't worry to much as you'll be having to much fun to notice people looking at you. There are already heaps of foreigners there so don't think you'll be the only odd ones out. Especially this time of year plenty of americans and koreans about Manila.
A lot of teenagers like wearing "Mossimo t-shirts" in Manila. When I went there, most of my cousins wear Mossimo. I would give people a Mossimo pasalubong. You can find those t-shirts at Target for a very affordable price. Because in the Philippines, people cannot afford it there because its like 800 Pesos a shirt. Trust me, thats what "teens" are interested in these days.
Girls there like wearing t-shirts that are fake Hollister and Abercrombie. I would give recommend giving girls shirts like that. Teens like wearing "bright light colors" in Manila. Buy shirts like baby blue, yellow, pink, grey, white, green, sometimes black.
I Hope that Helps!
I personally think that there's nothing wrong with wearing flip flops in the malls (foreigners and locals alike). It's not like you're going to a job interview when you have to dress appropriately, a mall is a place where you go to relax and be entertained so I think it's permissible to wear whichever you like (especially if it's something that makes you feel comfortable).
Filipino teens loves Levis jeans, Nike shoes, and cotton T-shirts.
They love American/Western brands.
They like Ralph Lauren, Havaianas....
