I have to sing a good ballad song in a few months so i wanted to find a song and practice early. I'm an alto in choir, but i'm thinking about maybe a 'whitney houston' or 'keisha cole' type of song. Nothing with a key change, please, but something kinda slow, or something at leaste almost as good as 'and i am telling you' by jennifer holiday. I'd sing that song, but i cant belt some of the notes....so help me find a great ballad to sing thats not too high! thanks
P.S. the judges choose the best that usually chose a 'broadway musical' like song!

...and don't be afraid of those high notes, fellow alto :) there's a trick my choir teacher told us: the louder you sing, the better those high notes will come out. Typically, we tend to back off on them, but SING them!! They come out better usually. If a note really is too high, I wouldn't be afraid to change up the song a bit; make it your own! I'm sure the judges would love a little originality! ;) good luck! :)
