Hey, I wanted to audition for Friedrich von Trapp in a community theatre production of Sound of Music next summer. Problem is I'll be 15 by the auditions and right now I'm 5'6. I might grow a little before then, and I was wondering if this was too tall and old to play Friedrich. I emailed the theatre company and they said they don't cast on size but by talent and they'll see if my height works. Do you think auditioning is worth it?

Auditioning is always worth it. There is a chance you will get a part and will know a little more with each audition. And really, what have you got to loose?
If they say they cast by talent, then definitely go for it. If you can do well at auditions, you'll have a good chance, regardless of your size. And if nothing else you'll have that much more experience for your next audition.
freidrich is the second child so he can be taller. they usually cast liszl with an adult singer so as long as she is not a midget, you will be okay. practice the low notes on do-re-mi - do a deer, and remember as the eldest son you are the most proud, not a baby like kurt. so you are snippy, but finally you listen to maria. as long as liszl is not a midget, you will be fine. break a leg and good luck in getting the part.
