Yes it is. Public servants should give up all right to privacy. They are the servants of We the People, Patriot Act or not. I noted that CNN was in a "panic" mode about this. I ask where the hell have they been while worse invasions of privacy have hurt the US citizen after those three warmongers failed to vote against this fear promoting agenda.
That occurred to me, too. They don't say if other candidates like Ron Paul (who fought against the Patriot Act) also had their records invaded.
If it makes them rethink their unconstitutional positions on bills like that and the telecom surveillance act, it will have been a good thing, if you ask me.
Any database is insecure. No huge body of employees and contractors is wholly without fault.
Besides, the government doesn't have the right to mine the information for itself without warrant. The Constitution is SUPPOSED to stop that sort of thing.
Good point, although I dont agree it justifies thier actions. I dont think it was malicious snooping, but it is worrying that low ranking workers can get their hands on such high ranking officials. Vote Ron Paul
McCains didn't get snooped and I don't think Hillary's did either (they already perused the Clintons files in '92 - remember the special prosecutor?)
I think the GOP (oh ... say somebody like ... oh.... KARL ROVE) had someone snoop Obamas records, then they faked the other two to make it look more innocent and cover their tracks.
Don't let Rove's Dirty Tricks Squad (which he proudly claims himself in public) fool you - the GOP has gone to the dark side.

The answer depends on who did the snooping, why they did the snooping and if they were authorized to do the snooping.
Since some of the snoopers got fired or at least disciplined, that implies to me that they were not authorized to snoop.
I am not a big fan of the Patriot Act, but last time I checked it didn't authorize anyone to be able to look at anything.

I don't have a problem with the Patriot Act.

I see no difference between this and internet web beacons.
Why should they be treated any different than all American citizens? I agree with you.
