I am a freshman college student in Erie, PA, but I am from northeast PA. I have a friend who is also a freshman and goes to college in Atlanta, GA, and is from that area.
Her and I are very close, having met 1.5 years ago at a camp in Nashville TN, and have stayed in touch. We text often, and have talked of meeting up after college. I am applying for internships in her area, and was considering asking her out.
My only concern is we are over 12 hours apart, and would most likely only see each other 1-2 times per year due to distance, time, and money. I don't want to wait and lose her, but I don't want to ask her and grow apart later either.
She is awesome and so far we have gotten along great! My friend would have one year left of schooling when I graduate from college, and this isn't a problem. But it would be almost 4 years before we could actually be together permanently. For now it would be limited to winter and summer break.
She is an amazing young woman, and I have strong feelings for her.
I would prefer answers from people who have been in long term LDR's. Thanks!!

I am in a long distance relationship right now with my boyfriend whom lives in another country. It is really hard sometimes but well worth it because we both love each other and are willing to wait until he is done with med school. Right now we can only see each other over summers but that just makes every moment together even more special. I say you should go for it since you seem to really like her. Dont wait. It is worth a try. Good luck!
