I know I'm being really old fashion and mature but read this poem:
They did not expect this. Being neither wise nor brave
And wearing only the beauty of youth's season
They took the first turning quite unquestioningly
And walked quickly without looking back even once.
It was of course the wrong turning. First they were nagged
By a small wind that tugged at their clothing like a dog;
Then the rain began and there was no shelter anywhere,
Only the street and the rows of houses stern as soldiers.
Though the blood chilled, the endearing word burnt the tongue.
There were no parks or gardens or public houses:
Midnight settled and the rain paused leaving the city
Enormous and still like a great sleeping seal.
At last they found accommodation in a cold
Furnished room where they quickly learnt to believe in ghosts;
They had their hope stuffed and put on the mantelpiece
But found, after a while, that they did not notice it.
While she spends many hours looking in the bottoms of teacups
He reads much about association football
And waits for the marvellous envelope to fall:
Their eyes are strangers and they rarely speak.
They did not expect this.
This poem is basically about how relationships fall apart. Life is metaphorically compared to bad weather and life's paths! By the end the romance is dead and depressing. Don't rush because it will be hard to sustain the relationship. The poem mentions ghosts, it's the ghost of the relationship. I'd stay home for now, even if things are bad. The poem is actually the outcome of many young relationships these day, so don't rush into anything! Stay calm and stick with it! Your mum probably loves you, life is sometimes hard. I'm sorry for the way I expressed my opinion, but I thought the poem was perfect for your situation.
I feel if you're 18+ You are mature enough to move in with someone. But if you are having doubts you should wait. You want to be 100% sure that you two are ready when you walk out that door. Some questions you would want to ask yourself:
-Are we financially ready for this?
-Could I see myself living with this person?
-Are you ready for this?
-Does this person have a steady job?
-How would this affect my social life?
That's just a few questions. I hope this helps!! (:
stay home.
