only if ATL doesn't finish in the bottom 3? or is it only if ATL doesn't get a top 3 pick, because finishing in the bottom 3 and getting a top 3 pick are very different things due to the lottery

PHX gets ATL's first round pick if it is not in the top 3 after the lottery. ATL may finish in the bottom 3 teams but if it does not get a top 3 pick from the lottery it will go to PHX
greg c said it right. as long as atl doesnt wind up getting a top 3 pick in the lottery, phx gets it.
