As per: is this very bad, the photo itself, the face? Which one is
better? Close ups or a little from afar?

Just my personal opinion, but I like the last one the best. The models face fills most of the frame, which is nice. It might be better if you could blur the background. It would put the concentration more on her. Also, have you considered using a reflector? A white piece of cardboard, or gold for a warmer tone, held out of the frame so it reflects up onto her face would be a nice effect. All in all, I'd say your doing fine, but for a head shot.....concentrate on the face, and minimize the distracting background....zoom in and blur the background for a dramatic effect.
They're all OK but the backgrounds are distracting (branch growing out of head).
Also the face appears to have a bit too much wide angle in it -- less than flattering.
Shoot with a neutral BG, step back a bit and use a longer focal length to make features more natural.
Personally, I like the third the best. The expression in the first two looks mean or maybe even dazed. The last one is out of focus. The third is the best of the four.
in my opinion the third is the best i dont like the expression in the first two and the last one has a soft focus to it
The second one looked nice! :)
