staying up til 2 or 3 of course would make him sleepy around the middle of the next day. he should force himself to wake up at a normal time during the day, even if he hasnt gotten a full 8 hours rest the night before, stay up as long as he can, force himself actually to stay awake all day until the normal bedtime he is after, then he will be very tired around say 9pm, after 8 hours or so of sleep he will want to wake up at a normal morning time. he has to force his body to do this cycle at first, then it will become automatic. if hes not going to sleep until 3 am, thats the reason he doesnt wake until probably late in the day. hope he works at home...

Let me tell you, I have the same problem. I am up til 2 or 3am and i sleep till 1 or 2 in the evening. Either that is the way his body is, he may just be a night person. Or he is having some health issues. Maybe he needs some vitamins. Something to get him moving and not sleeping 12 hours. I have tried everything and nothing helps. ANd if i lay in bed at 11:00pm... i just stare at the ceiling. I cannot fall asleep til 2 or 3. Just habit i guess.

I used to sleep all day too, it's really hard to get out of. If he's not working a job that starts in the morning or early afternoon can help. If he's getting too much sleep he will be tired when he wakes up. He could also try staying awake all night and day and going to bed at a "normal" time.
