How do I go about getting US citizenship for my Peruvian born daughter?
I am a US citizen and my husband Peruvian. We live in Peru. I have looked at the embassy's web page but, due to past dealings with the embassy, am inclined to believe that there more to it than meets the eye.
If any one has run this gauntlet I would like to know what all should be done.
-Is a blood test advisable?
-What is an Affidavit of Paternity/Maternity and Physical Presence?
-What forms are needed?
-Do we need an appointment?
-Do my daughter and I need to travel to the US in order to complete the process?

-Blood test not really for a US citizen mother (a father on the other hand...)
-Affidavit of Paternity= swear that the father is the father.
/maternity= swear you are the mother
Physical presence= proof that you lived in the US for 5 years at least 2 of which were after the age of 14
-Forms=3 different forms
1)application for consular report of birth abroad
2)application for Social Security Number (not required but...)
3)application for US passport (not required but...)
-Yes you need an appointment

You need to go to the nearest US Embassy in Peru to get forms for your husband to fill up. You husband needs to have a DNA test to prove that he is the father of the child. Since you are the US citizen, it can not be your daughter to qualify as a US citizen. After filing the petition, US Immigration will send you an approval. Your daughter has to wait for available visa number before a physical examination and interview.
Normally you should have bring her to the embassy when she was born you should go there with proof of your citizenship and proof that she is your daughter they will tell you what to do
The child's birth should be registered at the US embassy or consulate
