My son is almost 10 months old. I have exclusively breastfed him. He has hardly ever taken a bottle because I stay at home with him. I recently became very ill with a kidney infection and started to dry up due to being dehydrated. My husband was mixing bottles of half formula and breast milk (that I had stored) and was slowly decreasing the amount of breast milk in the bottles. Now my son refuses to take the formula at all and I am out of milk. I even tried whole milk and putting it into a sippy cup. Does anyone have any other suggestions as to how I can get him to take the formula?

He will take it when hungry enough. He just doesn't like the taste. (ever taste it yourself? it's really nasty)
At his age, he might be ready for whole milk anyway which tastes best out of the choices.
He'll take it when hes hungry enough. It just tastes funny to him. I had a problem switching my daughter from formula to whole milk when she was a year old because she wasnt used to the taste. Just keep giving him the bottle and let him push it away a few times. He will drink it when he gets hungry enough and he'll eventually get used to it. Good luck because you'll go through this all over again when getting him to drink regular milk
Can you possibly mix cereal with it and spoon feed him? My son is 7 months old and his pediatrician said that he will be off the formula by 12 months. He eats jarred food 2 x's a day now.
I also had a similiar problem with my baby and believe me when he gets hungey enough he will take it, but I understand how you feel I thought he would starve to death because he wasnt as old as your baby when I had this problem and formula was his only nutrience but If I were you I would add a little oatmeal or rice cereal to his formula that might help. Good luck and relax it will work out.
you shouldn't really give him whole milk til he is at least 12 months or so. Maybe try a different brand of formula. he will eat when he is hungry. Just give him other foods to eat.
You need to ween him off it. Start mixing it say 2 oz for a week
4oz the next, 6 the next 8 the next.
Have you tasted formula, I would refuse it also. But have someone else try feeding him the first few times he associates you with the breast.
Formula does not taste as good as breastmilk. Have you thought about trying to relactate?
