For about a year now I've been dealing with a football shaped dark red spot near the tip of my penis as well as redness and irritation towards the base on one side. The condition worsens (overall redness, pain) with any sexual activity (sex - both with and without condoms and masturbation) and sometimes without any provocation. i tired a few steroid creams but it seems to just clear up the redness on the base for a day or two but then it comes back.
i've recently spoken with an ex from a few years back who was diagnosed with cancerous cells in her cervix caused by HPV and underwent surgery to remove those cells. i had an outbreak of something about 3 years ago (doctor said it sounded like herpes) but it was gone in 3 days before i could get in to see a doctor and hasn't come back since.
Is this some form of HPV and should i be worried that it could be cancerous? urologists have been no help thus far in identifying. Thanks for you help!

Could it have resulted from years of abrasion? See a Doctor. Good luck and I hope it's just abrasion.
The prevalence of penile cancer in the United States is rare (approximately 1:100,000 men per year) according to the National Cancer Institute. Your symptoms certainly sound like HPV but only a health care professional can make that determination. If going to a urologist hasn't been helpful, you might want to try a dermatologist. A dermatologist can identify your problem and recommend further treatment options. The sources below may be of some help. Good luck.
I can't believe a medical doctor/urologist isn't treating your condition with something. It does sound like possible herpes which is something you will always have but it is treatable.I would be concerned about passing something on to a sex partner. I'm afraid you are not going to get an answer on line, but do be persistent with your doctors.
Well my suggestion would be to see a urologist which you say you have done. The only way to solve this is to find a good urologist. If you are on Long Island I can recommend a very good one.
