Is it ok to keep hoping even if the outcome is slim?
Like i want to give up and stop hoping because if it doesn't happen I'll be crushed, but if i give up now it won't hurt as much. I don't know what to do.

Without knowing what you're referring to, this is a meaningless question. If you are hoping that your missing keys will turn up, it's reasonable to keep that hope. If you are hoping that the law of gravity will be repealed, not so much.
you can keep hoping even when you know you have lost if you want to. no one can make laws against what you feel
