You are probably asking this question because you want to take the camera into a concert. The definition of "professional camera" is left to the security guard at the gate where YOU will be entering the venue. Be prepared to either argue about the status of your camera or walk it back to your car.
While the A650 isn't a "pro" camera, I know of one pro that works for a local paper who always carries an old 3M pixel point & shoot with him when off duty. Never know when news will happen in front of you.
