Hey there! :)
So today I was thinking.... If someone asked me a question about Dressage or another English event, I could give them more information that 100 Encyclopedias. But if someone asked me about barrel racing, I think our conversation would last about 5 minutes because I really don't know a whole lot about it.
So my could someone please give me some more info on it? I know that you have 3 barrels, you go in a cloverleaf pattern, but that is about it. I really would like to know more on the popular sport of Barrel Racing. Thanks!

Basically, it's where you run against other barrel racers, and try to get the fastest time. Usually the races are timed in 5D format. The "D" means division. There are 1D, 2D, 3D, 4D, & 5D.
A time of 26 seconds or less would put you in the 5D.
A time of 24-25 seconds would put you in the 4D.
A time of 18-17 would put you in the 3D.
A time of 15-16 would put you in the 2D.
A time of 14-13 would put you in the 1D.
:)
Hope I helped.
i do it for fun at a hopefully a few shows this next year and have done it a few times before.
*every time you knock down a barrel you gain 5 seconds to your time, and pretty much cost you a placing
* the whip for barrel racing is called and over under (don't ask me why)
and then yeah, race in a clover leaf pattern and the fastest time wins. other than that there really isn't much more too it. but its a lot of fun, you should try it sometime!

i am alot like you but my friend barrel races so i know a little about it. you are going against the clock to see who can get the fastest time. commonly the smaller horses are better because they have less leg to organize when they make that turn around the barrel
Check out the book at your local library. It's called "charmenye james, how to train your horse"
It will give you all the things about barrel racing.
I can't type them all down for you, it would take up way to much space.
Hope this helps you
