Well first you already know that when you get older you'd have to go to the weight room but now you are too young so what I propose you is to work alot on your swing so you can hit the ball in the bats sweet spot and "work out your fore-arms and grip" because the main strength comes from there. For your shoulder you just have to trow alot and for big distances with softballs because you'd get used to the big *** ball and your shoulder's muscle is gonna develop with time but don't stop trowing baseballs because you don't want to lose your accuracy. I am a Junior and I play varsity and it's really exiting so I Hope you the best and remember "good results come out of good effort and dedication" and don't ever stop trying until you have accomplished your goals (don't stop stying either).
Go to the Weight room. For hitting i would focus my workouts on my "core". Good drills for hitting:
- top hand drill (get a tee ball bat and use your top hand and have a friend soft toss to you.)
- No- stride drill (soft toss w/o striding)
- 45 degrees( set a L- Screen at 45 degrees from where you normally hit)
Also, you will impress High School coaches if you can Hit the ball opposite field... Focus on staying inside of the baseball and driving it up the middle and the gaps...
Now, for your arm all I can tell you throw, throw, throw... Do alot of long toss and if you can get a set of "Stretch Bands" it'll help.. Also if you are going to be lifting weights avoid lifting heavy weight during your bench presses. Try using less weight and doing more reps per set.. Use Dumbells if you can though....
I hope this helps you!!
Good Luck!!
It is hard i have almost always been small but for batting i would really work on making contact and then work on your speed so you could maybe bunt and get on base and second base is always a great place for shorter guys the only time you really have to gun it is on a double play but work on getting your whole body into everything you do great example Tim Lincecum
That's a good question for your coach, because he knows more about your ability then your description reveals. That's why they have coaches and managers.
It's all in the hips and legs. Focus on finishing those movements with your lower body. Good luck.
