I have this package that I sent to an FPO address (San Francisco area) on 7/7/07...I paid extra to receive a delivery confirmation and I even called USPS twice to see what was going on. Basically, nothing has happened since I submitte package at USPS, on their website all it writes is "pkg received at 7/7/7" & the time... Has anyone else had this problem before? If so, is it normal that there are no updates....... and If they cannot deliver it, I will be notified or it will be sent back to me correct??

Ok, it can take anywhere from 2-4 WEEKS to arrive. The reason is because it goes to the Military Postal System in CA * I'm guessing since it's FPO *....then it goes to the CMR *Community Mail Room* Downrange....after that, it has to go to the Soldier/Sailor's Location and get sorted to be handed out/picked up by the person.
Did you Insure it? If not, then if it doesn't reach it's final destination, you may be SOL.
Also, what did you check on the Custom's Form? If you marked 'Return to Sender' it will be returned to you. If you didn't mark anything, it's possible that it will be considered 'Lost' and it's anyone's guess what happens to it!
MY advice: If at all possible, INSURE packages from now on. It doesn't cost much to do so, and it will ease the mind a bit.
you mailed to an fpo address in the U.S.?
im a little confused but i will try to help anyways.
i mail packages every week to my husband and his buddies overseas.
if you mailed it overseas...then you will not know until the person who you mailed it to tells you. if you are mailing to an FPO that is overseas...basically delivery confirmation wont do anything.
when mailing to an FPO it goes somewhere in the U.S. first, gets checked out, and then sent to the certain area where that unit is...so the delivery confirmation would only be good up until it got to the destination in the U.S.
thats why i never get confirmation it just costs more, and it doesnt tell you if it actually got to the addressee only that it got to one destination not its final destination.
hope that in some ways helps. its a little confusing i know
I just bought the biggest box they had at the post office and filled it. I am not sure how heavy it was, but I think around 15lbs and I paid less than $20 for the postage from NYC. The thing is that you don't pay shipment for it to go oversea as the military address you have is an APO which is like sending it to another state within the US.
My husband is on his third deployment to Iraq and I have found the turn around time to be about 2 weeks. Your package should be there around the 21st or so. It also depends on if the fob receives a mail call everyday. If you checked on the custom form to return to sender then they will send it back to you if it is undeliverable. Good Luck!
