We have one for our dog. We fill it up with treats, and he's good to go. But once he works out the first one or two treats, the rest just fall right out. He gobbles them up and then doesn't care about the Kong toy. It amuses him for about 10 minutes. I thought those were supposed to keep your dog busy for hours -- are we missing something?

the next time you stuff the Kong pack it tight using peanut butter, canned dog food, kibble, dog biscuit's, carrots, some cheese or what ever. mix it up to be different each time the take the Kong and freeze it over night ( helps to have more than one Kong) so one is always ready. being frozen it takes longer for it to defrost and release little bits of treats. keeps the dog busy longer.
Stuff a small piece of bread or a mini marshmallow in the hole on the small end. Fill it 2/3 of the way with peanut butter or low-sodium chicken broth and then freeze it. He'll spend hours licking the frozen treat out. But be sure to give it to him outside, in a crate, or in the kitchen because melted chicken broth can really make a mess on your carpet.
Even if you just put the cream, like the peanut butter stuff, that keeps them busy because they will want to get every last bit of the peanut butter in the kong..
I fill mine with peanut butter. It keeps my dog amused for quite some time.
I don't think any toy is going to keep your dog amused for hours. It is best to have a variety of sizes and textures available to them.
I just bought one yesterday and your supposed to squish the treats inside reallytight and then the dog will play with it for a long time.
I put peanut butter in there on the sides then put in some treats and freeze it for an hour...Keeps my staffy busy for a while! but yes if you just put treats they have a tendency to just fall out
I have a follow-up question: when you use squishy stuff like peanut butter, does the peanut butter get all over the carpet or upholstery?
My dogs get the biscuits out really easily, too.
Try to be a bit more imaginative as to what you fill it with. I use little biscuit type treats with some cheese so you can kind of squish it up and it makes it harder to get it out. Squishy stuff def works better and my dog will spend ages trying to get the stuff out.
They have Kong fillers but they are terrible for your dog. I put peanut butter, yougurt and big treats in it.
Try putting a single, LARGER treat in it. It should take longer to get out, and they'll be more determined.
