If u got for the dti it's a Isuzu engine and there Pretty good cheap to buy! How ever a car around that age will always have some kind of issue pop up now and then!
I owned a 2.0 Dti Design and had a few problems some are isolated some less so.
wiper bar broke replacement section with improved bush available cheaply through ebay (think this was an isolated incident).
Mass air flow sensor needed replacement (apparently a common fault) ebay again 5 mins to fit.
Replaced split intercooler pipe with silicon pipe (again a common fault rubber hose deteriates so replace with silicon) ebay again 5 mins easy fix
Starter motor failed (after 4 yrs so not really an issue and again may be isolated as i have not heard of these going wrong a lot)
Cruise control temperomental (didnt have it checked so may have just needed a software fix)
Rear door lock motor failed (not common)
Went through a lot of bulbs (it tells you if one is blown on cars with trip comuter)
Make sure you have it serviced
Good points are the Dti engines are chain driven so no timing belt to change
Group 8 insurance for a 2.0 turbodeisel is good
Great for cruising the motorway.
Good on fuel
Later 1.9 Cdti engines are more powerful but have higher insurance.
Petrol engines are usually reliable though this is a big car and fuel costs may be an issue so look for a duel fuel LPG model with a service certificate.
Automatic gearboxes seem to fail a lot
Timing chain failure on 2.2 dti seems to be an issue though this is not so on the smaller 2.0dti
They are not as unreliable as some people would have you think - no more - or less- than any other car. They don't hold their value very well at all though, so you should be able to pick up a very good bargain.
