Hair dye didn't go right?
So, last night my best friend dyed my hair for me. My natural hair color is kind of like a dirty blonde, but darker. So kind of a dark brown, but it can get lighter if my hair was washed within 12 hours before. So we were trying to dye my hair blonde, because when I was younger my hair was blonde and looked good. We followed the directions on the box, left the stuff in for 45 minutes with my hair up, then washed it out and used the conditioner that came in the box on my hair. Well, my hair came out more a strawberry-blonde/light-brown color. It doesn't necessarily look bad, but I'm still kind of wanting to go blonde. My friend said we could maybe dye it again to the shade of blonde I wanted, but we don't know how long we have to wait, or if we even have to wait or what. So, basically, how long would be a good amount of time to wait before we dye it again to go blonde? Thanks!

Well you should dye it a cooler tone blond just in case you didn't before to make the redness appear less... my hair is naturally like the same color and red tones will come out if lightened. I would wait at least two weeks because lightening hair is damaging ... and also you should wait at least a day or more after you wash your hair so the natural oils in your hair will protect your hair from the damage that the dye does to it.
You're going to want to bleach your hair to dye it a blonde, as you can't make something that's dark lighter, unless you are to use bleach, Sun In, or that trick with lemon juice and staying in the sun. If you're going to bleach it, wait at least a week before each bleaching. But as the person above me said, you should probably go to a professional.
you can't color a dark color and make it lighter. you need to wait at least a week before dying it again so you don't damage your hair. if you want to make it lighter than what it is you have to strip your hair of colour first, with bleach. then you dye your hair the colour you want to use. the more you dye it with out first bleaching it, it will just end up as a disaster. go to a professional.
Perhaps you should go to a salon next time....I tried to dye my dirty blonde hair blonde one time and it didnt end well
