Scary but normal. (I'm assuming you don't take medications and don't have any health problems other than an injured hand.)
Syncope (fainting) is a common vasovagal response to pain. The vagus nerve, when stimulated by something like sudden pain, causes your blood pressure and heart rate to drop and you faint. The vagus nerve is the longest nerve in the body, going from the back of the skull to the intestines http://www.wisegeek.com/what-is-the-vagus-nerve.ht...
The mechanism of this, put simply, is that your body realizes you have slammed your hand in a door and that you need to stop whatever you're doing in case you're badly injured or even bleeding to death. If your blood pressure and heart rate drop, your body will have time to analyze how badly you're injured. If you're bleeding, this will slow the bleeding and give your blood time to clot. If you slammed your hand in a door and tried to keep walking around, fainting can be a normal reaction.
For some people, vomiting can accompany vasovagal fainting. You're fortunate this didn't happen to you too!
I would check in with a doctor anyway but I wouldn't start planning yer funeral. Your blood circulation might just be cut off when you got your hand jammed and your blood isnt getting to all the right places. Just drink alot of water, just cos that always helps and when you get up, make sure to do it slowly. I'm no doctor but it might help. Good luck.<3
Take a look at this website i don't know if this is your problem exactly but it very well could be. i have RAS so this sounded very familiar to me just not as severe. Please take he time to read over each of the conditions and compare symptoms. these sites have helped me a lot the UK site is a little better but they have the same information :) hope this helps but make sure you talk to your doctor about your problem and if you think one of these is your problem make sure you bring it up yourself many doctors are unaware of these problems. I was diagnosed with breath holding instead of what i actually had. sorry for the long answer just trying to make sure you get the information you need
hope you feel better <3 shelbyshel
if you jammed you head i would say yes but your hand?
If you took medicine for pain that might have something to do with it, but you might want to call a doc
Normal is boring.
