Everytime you open a magazine here in Uk their are warnings about certain foods, well nearly everything that does not resemble grass is bad for you. Do you get bombarded with that as well. The other day i went into Asda for a chicken, i thought that i would be a good person today and buy a Free-range chicken. It was the size of a pigeon. Another thing is you cannot buy chicken breasts with the skin on , certain places have it but very hard to find and cost twice as much and i like the skin. I miss that.

Fact: We all ALL GOING TO DIE FROM SOMETHING
Fact: Certain Foods are bad for you and you must eat them (if you like) in moderation.
Fact: Life is too short to WORRY WORRY WORRY! If you do your best to eat nutritious foods and want to splurge on some chicken w/ skin, then by God do it. ENJOY THIS LIFE CAUSE YOU DON'T GET A SECOND CHANCE!
WITH LOVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It happens all the time here... but then again the US have warnings about everything. If you listened to it all you would probably have to be fed through a drip.
The last straw was an article on how meat cooked over a fire will give you cancer. My husband threw a fit and said that if that was the case every braai-loving South African would have cancer...
I agree with the other answers moderation is the key ...
ADD: I just read this comic and had to share it with you :-)
Yes all the time especially all the diets that are doing the rounds: then you must eat no protein and no diary and only eat veggies and fruit to lose weight, next, no that is all wrong, no veggies only protein. Then you hear biltong causes cancer, then it is coffee and red wine, ....blah blah blah. I know what diet works for me, eat EVERYTHING in moderation and I drink EVERYTHING in moderation. I also love the chicken skin, all the flavour is concentrated in the nice crispy skin, same with a steak, I love a steak with a bit of fat on. I actually do not believe half the things they write anymore.
I have discovered personally that organic food, agrees with my family,,,we try and buy fresh produce, and quality....I love cooking, so I really spend, all I have available on very good ingredients,,,,and if I cant get what I want, I simply dont buy...I hate fast food, and I know now what is good for my body...and my childrens health...I do not care what these magazines say, I know what best for me and my kids, from years of experience...
I do not need to listen to all that blah blah. I reckon that I have some common sense when it comes to nutrition. And I cannot avoid everything, otherwise I need not live at all. I do not smoke or drink, so let me at least enjoy my food, please!! A little bit of meat on the braai is alright?? I even put kasseler and thick slices of bacon on the braai!!
If you have a health problem and should stick to a certain diet please listen to the advice of the Dr. or Dietician.
Everything you eat is not bad, but moderation is a good thing.
