You need a visa. Full information on visas is on the UK Border Agency website: http://www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/visas-immigratio...
Getting a working visa is extremely difficult. In order to work here you need a job offer from a company who will sponsor your visa application, and they'll need to verify that they can't fill the job with someone from the EU.
The rules for temporary workers (up to 12 months) are different, but only apply to specific jobs - creative/sporting, religious ministry, charity work, and some government schemes.
No Green cards anywhere in the UK or Europe for that matter. A visa is needed. Just as if a UK citizen were wanting to stay in the US and work, there would be no hope unless that UK citizen had the skill set or education that another US citizen did not. You can not work in the UK, you can visit for an extended time but you can not work there.
No the UK don't do Green cards, it is not going to be very easy for you to do what you would like........... you have to get a visa to live/work in the UK and unless you have a skill the UK needs you will not get a visa................... check out UK border control website for full information
You need a UK visa - note, UK not England. Our country is called the UK, England is just part of it like California is only part of yours.
Green Cards have nothing to do with the UK.
Here's the UK Border Agency website, which explains it...
