so entirely not sure on what i want to do as a career but here are my (maybe) intentions:
- A social worker....because I like the idea of studying people and trying to think of ways to improve situations and also don't mind the paperwork that apparently comes with it.
- A job in healthcare law.....I am not sure about what sort of jobs this would include though so if anyone has any info! I like the idea with being able to help using legal procedures and knowledge.
- A charity fund raising consultant....I am not really too sure about this but like the thought of helping a charity through work.
- A job involving French...because I really like the language.
- (A big maybee) job in business....I'm not sure if i want my subject choices to limit myself to jobs which JUST involve helping people.
I can only take 4 subjects for A-level and am choosing between these:
1.French
2.Psychology
3.Law
4.Business studies
5.Sociology
6.Health & social care
7.English & Lit
Please help me decide on subjects that could lead me down any of these routes and i would be SO gratefull if you had on any advice or info on what job what be best for me!
by the way here's a bit about me:
- I Love french, English and Biology and am predicted A's & A*'s in them
-I hate maths, chemistry and physics
-I am really interested in studying psychology, but also want to try and help people in some form, in the job i do
- Personality wise my friends say I am extremely kind and caring and patient however can sometimes be shy but am very dedicated and hardworking. I like working both in groups and on my own and have good skills in writing and wording techniques.
THANKYOU SO MUCH!!!

Given your likes and dislikes, plus your career choices,
it seems that you might eliminate Business studies --
there will be math involved. Also, from a practical point
of view, the languages are not really going to give you
many options job-wise, so you might want to consider
putting French and English Lit on the back burner (said
a different way: take them because you love them, but
don't hold any expectations on making a living from them).
That leaves Psych, Soc, Law, and Health as your 4 choices.
[P.S. -- my sister is a social worker and I can tell you
that it takes a very special person to dedicate oneself
and stick with it given the truly immense emotional toll
that it takes on you. Also, my wife also loved French
and majored in Romance Languages (French, Spanish,
Russian, and Latin) thinking that she could get a job as
a translator or some such, but ended up becoming a
librarian instead -- language employment is difficult to get].
If you can speak french that really opens the job options up because anyone would like to employ someone who can speak two languages. Law only really goes one way and that is involving the career in law plus I've heard it's pretty boring and a waste of time. Business studies is just to do with starting your own business (or so I've heard) but I'm going to be taking it in September and I want to be a barrister. If you get a good mark in English and Lit then that would look really good for you and it will help you get better jobs. My cousin is taking Psychology and she thinks it's really interesting. I don't really know a lot about Health and Social care or Sociology. I hope this helps!
hi sweetie! I took health and social care, psychology, sociolgy and English and i'm now at college doing my social work diploma and im a qualified councellor- i was shy just like you, and have the same qualities as you do. It certainly helps to be dedicated, caring and hard working in the careers you would like to persue. i hope you succeed in whatever you choose to do! you sound like a wonderful person who has a lot to offer. go for it! also, you mentioned you dont want to choose all subjects which are for helping people- but with these subjects, you can go into buisness with too. for example, opening your own charity, owning your own care home for people with mental illness, foster caring for young children with different needs and backgrounds, the list really does go on! you can always go to night classes at a different college to do french- i did spanish at night and im now fluent! good luck :)
when you're one hundred% % positive this may sparkling up your low self assurance, etc, then i might want to say bypass for it - you in straightforward words stay once, so why no longer advance your high quality of existence. definite you bypass on your GP and they are going to refer you to a beauty physician, and also you may choose therapy to attend to the melancholy about your nostril because after surgical procedure it would all be somewhat overwhelming! I guess your nostril isnt even that undesirable, yet in spite of makes you satisfied! And in case you stay interior the united kingdom you're in a position to declare it on the NHS as its inflicting you psychological damage, yet when no longer you'd be searching at paying round £3000
