Could he be really shy or just uninterested?
I think I may be in denial about this becuase this guy seems great and I'd really like to get to know him. He seemed interested in me before. He stared at me a lot with a longing look in his eyes. I finally said hi a couple times and he seemed happy but now he doesn't stare at me anymore and makes no effort to even be near me. I don't get it. Just a while ago, he would stare at me to where other people even noticed. Now he seems uninterested. I guess it's time to move on =( He just seems like such a nice guy). Oh well.
Update:Someone said he is extremely shy but he isn't around his friends.

Go talk with him. Be friendly. There is always a possibility that someone told him you wouldn't be interested in him, so he has dropped his interest. It's hard to know why people go from interest to disinterest. But you can always make that effort that he might be afraid to make. Tell him you would like to get to know him and ask him if he would like that as well. See what happens. Don't count him out yet!
yeah he could be really shy. i am and sometimes your shyness beats you, and you just give up. its not a matter of being not interested, its a matter of not being able to beat your own shyness. and when the girl does show interest it makes you even more freaked out and shy. so its a vicuos circle. honesrly I would forget the guy. if he is that shy he is ****** anyway.
You're obviously interested and would like to know him more...so try and talk to him, even about something trivial...try something you both have in common, so he can give feedback.
