I would wait at least several days. And use something clean and non abrasive. 3M has a great product called hand glaze in case you develop swirls. Be careful with Black!
Painted Car Panels
I've had a few cars painted at maaco, and in the pamphlet they gave me, it told me not to wash the car for a few weeks, and wait at least 2 months to wax it. Since it is hot out, it takes even longer for the paint to dry. It may feel dry on top, but the layers underneath are still soft. I would wait at least 2 weeks and maybe just gently sponge it with only water.
From a website:
Q: Can I wash my car after painting?
A: RECOMMENDATIONS AND PRECAUTIONS IN THE FIRST 30 DAYS:
DO
- Wash the vehicle by hand with cool water and a very mild car wash solution. (Using a soft cloth or sponge)
- Always use clean fresh water.
- Wash your vehicle in the shade.
DON'T
- Do not use a commercial car wash. Stiff brushes or sponges could mar the finish and damage the surface.
- Do not "dry wipe" your vehicle. Dry wiping can scratch the finish.
- Do not drive on gravel roads. Chipping the finish is easily done in the first 30-days.
- Avoid parking under trees and utility lines which are likely to attract birds. Bird droppings have a high acid content and will damage a freshly painted surface. Also, tree sap can mar or spot a freshly painted surface.
- Do not spill gasoline, oil, antifreeze, transmission fluid, or windshield solvent -on the new finish.
- Do not scrape ice or snow from the newly painted surface.
In about 3hrs after you paint you can rinse the car off but don't use soap and make sure you dry it! Or else it will spot on you. Ovens are good but they may cause a solvent pop(little dots over the finish)but that's rare.In about 3-5 days I would wax it then you'll be good to go.
um...im not too sure if you would want to or not...im not too sure what the drying time is on paint...but to fully harden up i would assume that you should wait at least 24 hours..and you dont want to take any chances expecialy with a 300zx... i love them.
30 days n keep it out of the elements
You need to wait 48 hours.
