Can this be used in a regular socket?
i am considering buying a TP-Link Multicolor Smart Wi-Fi LED Bulb but i need to know if i can just screw it into a non-smart system or whether i need to re-make my wiring system to support it. will it work?

They are designed to screw into a conventional socket without any changes to the wiring. All of the "smarts" are contained within the bulb itself and communications is via WiFi.
To add to Andy's correct answer, there is actually no such thing as a smart system with regard to the wiring to the fixture.
