Another kidnapping soap plot - insensitive?
EastEnders cancelled their baby kidnap plot because of the tragic Madeleine McCann situation (despite the minor detail that the cases were absolutely nothing alike).
Now they have a new storyline about Wellard the dog being kidnapped and held hostage!
Do you think this is also insensitive, re Madeleine? How many people will complain?

Update:pumpkin - you were MEANT to laugh! The Wellard kidnapping is true. My point was that it has about as much relation to the McCann case as the plot that was axed did - in other words, NONE!!

I thought it somewhat ridiculous that the original baby storyline was shelved. Sure, it's not a pleasant subject, but then nor are most of the more serious issues soaps attempt to handle/sensationalise. The May/Rob/Dawn plot bore no resemblance to Madeleine's disappearance whatsoever.
It is crazy cancelling things like this, kidnapping happens all the time but just because the media decide to give extensive coverage to it does it become apparent to most people that it is going on.
Wake up people, there is a tiny minority of people dictating to you what you should think and feel.
Well it doesn't matter how sensitive a subject is we can't go on forever never mentioning it or writing it into TV or film scripts, it's life (even if in this case it's only a dog). No I won't be complaining, more important things to worry about!
Do you know they cancelled die hard 2 on ITV the other week because of what happened in Glasgow also despite the fact that the cases were absolutely nothing alike.
i dont think they should have withdrawn it, it is part of life, its happening all over the world all the time, and that goes for most of the other storylines, someone, somewhere will be going through the same thing, so why be sensitive to some and not others
