Would this be illegal? Drink spiking...?
Okay.. I have a best friend who I will call "Ella". Another girl in our group, "Julie", who I am not particularly fond of, is very uptight. The three of us along with the rest of our friends will be going out to a disco/club when we finish our important exams in June. Most of us will probably have a bit to drink to get buzzed, only a few of us will intend to get completely wasted.
Yesterday, when Julie was out, we were discussing our plans for this night out and someone mentioned how funny it would be to see someone as disapproving as Julie drunk. Ella then said that we should definitely try to get her drunk so she will loosen up and not spoil the fun (she criticizes us constantly). We know that Julie is not going to drink any alcohol, a sip at the most, so Ella said we should maybe add a tiny bit of alcohol to whatever drink she is drinking before we leave the house.
Ella always comes up with ridiculous plans which she never goes through with, and this discussion may just have been for fun, but I think it's quite possible Ella WILL try to spike Julie's drink. Although I tend to make reckless decisions, I don't think I would play a part in this.
My question is, would this be considered illegal? Could Ella get into trouble for doing this? Obviously we will be with her all night and she would not be properly drunk, but I'm just not sure...
Update:. The legal age here is 18 though, not 21, but thank you. Reading back over my question I sound like an ignorant boozy teenager, which I’m not, and I do respect Julie’s decision not to drink, I’m worried about the consequences Ella could face, even though it’s pretty possible she’s only joking about this. I just want to familiarize myself with the law, for future reference also. Anyway, much love x

Yes it would be illegal. Whether you stay with her, leave her, give her drugs or give her alcohol, drink spiking is illegal. If you spike her drink you can get in trouble.
If Julie's really annoying you guys just tell her in a nice way that her criticism is bothering all of you but respect her decision not to drink.
Just give her grape juice. You and your friends may be suspended from school which may follow you to your university. Might get in the university of your choice. Not to speak that the 'friend's' parents will be calling your parent's house. Don't want to be grounded for summer. Drinking is bad for you anyway. Studies show one cam live another 8- 11 years. There is much lower risk of heart attacks and strokes.
Just leave "Julie" alone. She will look younger than all of you are in your 30's or 40's.

Anyone giving alcohol to a person under the age of 21 is violating the Law, no matter if this first person is a minor.

If you and your other friends don't like the criticism from "Julie", try to locate a small amount of maturity and talk to her about it.If you include her in your plans there must be something about her that you like.
And , yes it is definately illegal to give mind altering substances to someone without their permission.
It depends if Julie takes it to the extreme..she may get real mad when she find out and go to the cops...she may go home wasted nd her parents call the cops...either way there is a possibility you could get in major trouble.

and i think you both should respect Julie's decision not to drink,she is just trying to be responsible and if you wouldnt want her to ruin your fun then i think you should just ask her not to go.
