would it be safe to go against my due date that my doctor gave me. Well the thing is, My last period was Nov.26,2005 which would make my due date on or around sep.2 but my doctor said my due date is Oct.1 because the size of the baby. All the babies in my family were small including me. It has been sept.16 before too before they changed it to Oct.1. If I go by my last period then I am 34 weeks tomorrow (July 22) anybody got any clue?

To go by your last period instead of using the age that was determined by ultrasound would not necessarily be a big deal, unless of course if you are planning to have a C-section or be induced at a certain date. The age determined through ultrasound is more accurate than by going through your last menstrual period because the baby's age is measured through how much the baby has progressed in its developments. And since menstrual periods are not always consistent, there is always room for errors when it comes to determining your gestation period. It rarely happens that the baby's size and age determined through the ultrasound coincides with the date determined by your last menstrual period. I was an exception - when I had my first routine ultrasound, my baby's age and size was right on and the due date was not change at all. And yet, my baby was born over a week early than the due date. So you have to remember that most of these things are estimates - the baby will come out when it's ready, no matter what the due date is.
The date of your last period may not work. I continued to have my period for 4 months after I was pregnant but had missed it the two months befor I was pregnant. Ultrasound is VERY acurate. They dont measure just the size but what organs have developed to determine the exact age of the fetus. The earlier you get your first one the more exact it will be. I would just go along with the doctor. All OBGYN's do is babies and women stuff, they know what they're doing. I know you want to prepare but all you can really do is wait and see. Congratulations and good luck.
Part of this is an issue of how regular your periods are. If they are like clockwork, then you're right. If they're not, I'd go with your doc.
Think about it this way. The risk to your baby of going too late is pretty small. The risk of inducing or doing a c-section too early is HUGE. When in doubt, I'd go with the later date.
Im still trying to uderstand what you mean by go agiant the date your doctor gave?!! Ive never known anyone that could choose when they would have a baby before! lol
