I think a lot of it has to do with American culture. What do most people seem to focus on, physics or making money? Edison is often cited as the pure embodiment of hard work and perseverance, which are both held with very high regard in the U.S. "I haven't failed, I've just found 10,000 ways that don't work." is a phrase from Edison that we use today to discourage throwing in the towel, or giving up. Tesla, while he worked hard as well, was also a bit crazy and just did things differently than Edison. Tesla was more geared for scientific research and engineering, while Edison was more business-oriented, which is another thing held in high regard here.
While it all seems very one-sided, this dichotomy can be reversed. Look through college level physics books and you'll find plenty of mention of Tesla and very little of Edison.
The only difference here is the focus. If your focus is on science, engineering and physics, you'll see lots of Tesla. If your focus is on either business (the big one for American culture) or invention, you see lots of Edison.

Tesla has a unit of magnetic field named after him. Edison does not have any scientific units named after him.
Everybody talks about Tesla coils. Nobody talks about Edison light bulbs, they just call them light bulbs.
So I think that Tesla is pretty well remembered.
One of the possible reasons is a free energy discovered by Tesla and suppressed.
We still don't know much what Tesla was doing last 25 years of his life...
I don't know why you say what you do. Tesla has certainly been remembered.
Seems to me like tesela is fairley well remembered.
