My Doctor prescribed me Cephalexin recently 500mg twice a day for 7 days. I was only able to take 12/14 doses because at around day 5/6 I've gotten pretty severe heartburn and an upset stomach.
I'm just wondering if 12/14 pills is generally enough to take care of an infection?
If not, what do I do if the infection comes back? Are there types of antibiotics that are softer on the stomach? Antibiotic injections?

You need to take antibiotics until you have taken them exactly for the length of time they were prescribed. Your Doctor should have stressed this to you. If not done so, it can very easily cause permanent kidney damage.
Take an anti-acid pill 1/2 hour before taking the anti-biotic. I would suggest a good one like Zantac; which gives at least 9 hours of relief. This will not interfere with your medication.....I am 98% sure it will solve your problem >3
Take PRO BIOTICS, (pro life) found in health food stores.. keep them in the fridge and take double the recommended dose until your stomach issues subside.. Antibiotics (anti life) are very damaging to the gut flora and kill all your good bacteria.. So you need to replace them with good bacteria in Pro biotics.
Heartburn meds just make the problem worse.. try a teaspoon of bi carb of soda in water, tastes horrible, but reduces acid and also fights infection.
Try to stay away from anti biotics all together and stick with pro biotics which give you better resistance to infection anyway..
Follow Sandy's advise and take the antibiotics directly after your meal, never on an empty stomach.
