hamilton alexander. he meant that the people born into rich families and well known lineages were the people who deserved to rule and to have power over the majority which consisted of the peasants. he didn't believe in being ruled by people who had been born into poor families, even if they had become rich over the course of their lives. he was of the principle, "i'd rather be ruled by a lion than by a pack of rats."
