My novel is about professional criminals/gangsters. However, they are not people specific to one race, so not like the Italian Mafia in New York or Irish Gangsters. They are just Americans. Where in New York would they operate roughly? Where should most of my story take place?

I will need two types of environments:

1) A suburban type area where they live with family etc.

2) A city type area, where the 'business' happens
