I'm thinking of buying a Canon Digital Rebel XT 8MP off Ebay, but it doesn't say that it comes with a memory card (other items say memory card comes with it).
Will a 1gb Sansdisk (sorry, spelling) work with this DSLR?

Most DSLR's use a CF (Compact Flash Type I and type II) card. There are many companies that make these. You're going to want at least a 2gig CF card. But 1 gig will work as long as it's the correct type of card, which is a CF card.
The XT uses CF cards, so yes the one you're listed is fine. But one thing to remember is down the road.
The new XSI and XS uses the SD cards so that means that the CF card will not be compatible if you decide to upgrade to a newer rebel now or later. Then you may consider getting a Sandisk SD card w/a CF adapter.
Of course if you move up to the prosumer level such as the 40d/50d. Then the CF card is still in use with those models.
Compact Flash (CF) is a standard among DSLR cameras. Many also take a second type of card, mainly SD cards. I like the CF cards, they tend to be faster and higher capacity cards as well as more durable. I would recommend a larger card. I personally use 8GB CF cards and get plenty of images. A 1GB card would work fine and give you maybe 200 images at 8MP.
The Canon Digital Rebel XT uses CompactFlash cards, and not SD cards. Yes, you can use SanDisk, or any other reputable brand, but be sure you are getting CompactFlash.
The Rebel XT uses CF cards... not SD.
