My mom recently bought a Toshiba laptop and the screen freezes occasionally, and she has to reboot the computer. Do you think there may be a virus present? The laptop is new.
Highly Highly doubt it is a computer virus, if it's that new.
You probably just bought a lemon, if it's still within 14 or 30 days (depending on the store you bought it from) try to return it, but if they refuse it, contact toshiba customer support. The laptop will still be within their warranty, so they SHOULD replace it for you.
if something keeps popping up on your computer every time you turn it on, you have a virus. If the add or remove catagory does not remove it under control panal, you have a virus. You must take it to a shop to get it removed.

The most common symptoms of malware infection:
- warnings from your anti-malware software,
- unusual activity on your system,
- slower computer performance,
- occurrence of unauthorized remote connection,
- inappropriate internet speed,
- questionable pop-ups telling you that your computer is in danger and needs a scanner or other program you’ve never heard of,
- problems with booting or rebooting before login and etc.
