If you're at a party where there isn't loud music, then you can impress everyone with some amazing party trick. But be warned - tricks are all about presentation. You can't just present a trick, because it will be bitterly disappointing. Imagine a magician who shows you the inside of a hat, then pulls a rabbit out of the hat. You may feel that you can't work out how he did it, but you can have a good guess, and after you've fained interest for a few seconds, you just wish the man would stop. What he needs to do is arouse your interest by using humour, acting, presentation, and if done correctly you find the performer amazing, rather than the fairly mediocre trick he's displaying.
It's all about presentation. A trick is primarily a vehicle to entertain, and secondly to amaze.
So, I hear you cry, how does all this fit in with picking up the ladies? Obviously, if you're entertaining with a party trick, you're displaying your good sense of humour, your personality, and your sense of fun. Being the centre of attention will make them single you out, and suddenly you're an interesting person to talk to.
I shall outline a trick that I devised a number of years ago. Now I don't like to blow my own trumpet or anything (toot toot!) but this is, without shadow of doubt, pure genius.
I read a book by Tony Buzan on memory techniques, and there was a comprehensive section on remembering names and phone numbers. The techniques are very powerful, and with a bit of practice you can become quite good at remembering lots of peoples' phone numbers having only heard them recited once. (Look up Tony Buzan on Amazon, and I'm sure you'll find his books.)
Once you've developed your amazing phone-number-remembering ability, you can use this to pick up girls. Imagine the scene:
You're at a party and there's loads of attractive women. You step into the lime light with your prepared routine specifically designed to engage your audience. You choose a handful of the prettiest girls in the room (around 8 is a nice number) and get them to write their names and phone numbers on a piece of paper. They read them out to you, one at a time (only once per number!) and you remember them as they're being read. Now the numbers are put into a bowl in the middle of the room, and a volunteer is chosen to take a number out of the bowl and read the name at the top. You then amaze the girls and onlookers alike by reciting their phone number. You repeat this a number of times, and then mix things up a bit. Get the volunteer to read the phone number, and then tell the corresponding name. If presented correctly, this party trick never fails to entertain and impress, as everyone wonders how you can possibly have such a good memory.
But think of the consequences here - not only have you impressed a bunch of attractive girls who find you to be witty and entertaining, but you also have all their phone numbers that you can use to your advantage!
As I say - Genius! But work on the presentation. Work on the suspense - you may remember the numbers perfectly well, but tapping your head and screwing up your face as you try to remember gives them the image of you remembering, and builds suspense as they wonder whether or not you're going to get it right. Deliberately getting it wrong and then correcting yourself will also add drama to the situation.

Depends what sort of party you're at.
