List all the different pathways that rappers and/or singers have taken to become a rapper/singer.
For example, some singers are found on youtube, some on Australian and American Idol, and I think one, (Susan Boyle), from Britain's Got Talent.
Most of the rappers are American and most of them got into the game really young, like when they were still in high school. But how did they become a famous rapper? Where did it all start? Tell me some of the different ways of how famous rappers of today got into the game.
And if you could tell me, what would it take for a 19 yr old Australian boy to become a rapper or possibly singer. (Rapper/singer, i.e. T-Pain). One who doesn't have that angel singing voice but actually writes decent lyrics. Some that you rap to and some that you sing to. (The singing ones are RnB songs, similar to the RnB songs that you listen to these days). And not only do I call myself a songwriter but I love music so much that I also create my own instrumentals. (Again similar to the RnB songs that you listen to these days. And this is what I rap to since I don't fancy making a rap beat. So my instrumentals are like Hip-Hop/RnB like.) Though unlike many others, I prefer not to post my songs on youtube or myspace, etc.
So could someone kindly tell me, what are my options?

Hi, I'm a professional American music producer signed to Rodney Jerkins (Darkchild). I've worked with artists ranging from Akon to Lady Gaga. I don't know if you've heard of Amy Pearson in Australia but I did a song with her called "Ghost" with Darkchild.
To be honest, most rappers in America break into the music business because of their connections. Its all about who you know. You make connections by socializing and getting your music heard. If you have charisma and are good at networking, you will find yourself around influential people and this will help you break in. Create your own music and get it heard. Develop a following and Industry execs will take notice no matter where you are in the World.
Don't be afraid to post your music on youtube and other social networks. Its like the "if a tree falls" adage. If there's no one around to hear it, they won't know or care if it makes a sound. If you don't get your music heard, no one will notice. You must think yourself as an endless reservoir of lyrics and music. Once you let people hear your music, you will get feedback that will help you to get better. You will always be able to make more and better music. The more people who hear your music, the better. I'm actually developing a male group that's doing the same type of music you describe.
I've created a FREE online resource to help people just like you trying to break into the music business while avoiding many of the pitfalls I had to endure on my own journey to breaking in. Its my way of giving back. Check it out!!! http://www.breakinin.com/
One way to get discovered is by starting local in your city. Do auditions and try doing shows at places in your town. And if your lucky, you just might get discovered by alot of people!!
-Good luck!
