It is usually the other way around, which programs do you get RID of. Two major slow ups are lack of free space on your hard drive and too many TSRs running that are not needed. You can easily check your hard drive space. As to unneeded pgms (processes) go to www.processlibrary.com and either download their process scanner (it's free) or type in the name of any running processes that you don't know what they are doing. I am always amazed that most people have no idea as to what is running on their PC. Two items that you most likely have running that you don't need running 7/24 are Adobe Reader and Quicktime.
There is no program to do that. To do that you got to either upgrade your computer or get a faster plan from your internet service provider. Or maybe do both,

John,
You need to take three steps to speed up your computer or laptop:
1. Add more RAM
2. Uninstall all software’s that you do not use.
3. Select a good registry cleaner and PC optimizer such as Reginout from Intel Software Directory http://ibx.intel.com/directory/Default.aspx
I am sure these three steps will help you a lot.
Thanks.

Try disc defragmenter, which is built in already, in accessories, system tools. Try Uniblue Speed Up My PC. It frees up RAM.
There is no program to do that, the only way is to buy more RAM and install it.
Viruses and spyware will slow your computer down, so i'd recommend Norton anti virus.
