I've seen many covers from popular songs done on guitars and ukes. I'm a new uke player and i'm curious as to how people just convert the song from the radio into an awesome version on the uke..beacuse you can't find chords for popular songs everywhere!

For the ukulele it's harder to cover songs because all you have to work with are two octaves and four strings. To get a good cover it's all about knowing the fretboard (that means your aural skills must be in tip top shape), know different techniques, tuning, chords, and follow the melody.
Jake Shimabukuro is INCREDIBLE at not only doing his own versions of songs on the ukulele, but his own original work.
Check him out performing "Time After Time":

I'm a big fan. :-D
Janoons, Would a girl be attracted to a guy with a guitar if he can't play it? I think the same with a ukulele. If you can play well there shouldn't be aproblem. Not only that but ukuleles are unusual. What girl wouldn't be attracted to a ukulele at the beach? Practice, practice, practice! Have fun, CowUkeA
I wouldn't advise buying a music book with tabs. In my experience they are almost always wrong because they rely on a computer that isn't aware of more sensible and correct ways to play things. You can usually go to google and search for the chords for a song and they'll usually come up. The guitar ones are more prevalent, but if it says the name of the chord and you have extensive knowledge of chord formations on the uke then it shouldn't be hard at all to translate it.
You can buy the books of music and/or tablature at music and/or guitar stores. They have "new" music...
You can also download tablature, which may or may not be correct...
