So i want some new music but i really want to know if there's any out there with the bass as the melody in most of the song. i've never heard one except in "Holiday" by Green Day during the bass solo and in "With or Without You" by U2 that has just bass and drums in the beginning. if you can help me with some of that stuff that would be SWEET!
thanks

A lot of U2
Seven Nation Army by the White Stripes (not really bass, but same sound)
Definitely My Generation
Black Dog-Led Zeppelin
In the middle of Orion by Metallica, there is a bass solo that serves as the melody.
The Who's My Generation features the bass as a lead instrument (a lot of their music does...so check them out).
Other bands with great bass:
Queen
Led Zeppelin
By the Way- Red Hot Chili Peppers
Juicebox-The Strokes
alot of iron maiden songs
total immortal by afi
bottom of a bottle by smile empty soul
kill the king by megadeth
beat your heart out by the distillers
the bass liens to these songs are very clear and add alot to the songs
Check out some Rush. Plenty of melody from all instruments.
listen to the intro of Sincerely Me by New Found Glory, and songs that have bass solos, and just do your own thing.
"Maxwell Murders" by Rancid has a bass solo.
Most TOOL songs are bass-orientated as are Michael Jackson songs.
Some Iron Maiden songs.
LOTS of Yes songs!:
"South Side of the Sky"
"Close to the Edge"
McCartney- "Penny Lane", "Baby You're a Rich Man", "Hello Goodbye"
