The older I get, I think some things really do happen for a reason, although we may not know it at the time. Seems like I have had more serendipitous things happen in the last 8 years or so than I ever did. Some , I think, are spiritually guided along.
I can't come up with one right off hand since it would very a long time explaining and would be boring. However, seems like the most recent things are related to my mom's death and what good can comes from some things.
I know it's not the type of answer you really want but lets just say a more overall spiritual awakening and things fall together like it is planned.
I guess there are a million answers to this question. I guess it is more like a reason for it happening. Take an accident that happened in New York the past weekend. A couple were on their way to the hospital to deliver their first baby and a idiot going 60 miles an hour hit them. The force of the accident eject the mother. She and her hubby were killed out right and they hurried and removed the baby and the baby lived for several hours, but passed. We wonder at things like this. Why? Why are some born into riches, others poverty. Why are some children wanted, others not? Who gets to be the lucky person to win the lottery. Why when a tornado rips through does it destroy my home, but not my neighbors. Religious people say it is lessons we must learn, but why don't we all have the very same lessons, some say we live many times to experience these lessons, some say we plan and choose what we want to experience if that is the case why do some pick easy lesson while others choose hard ones. Are the braver or stupid to choose such things. I feel we will all know misery, joy, heartache, rejection, self doubt, good times and bad times. Other than that we play the hand delt till the day we die. I think we are free to choose some paths in life others may find us by accident.
That is an old saying that just doesn't prove to be true. Sometimes things happen for
no apparent reason, and they make no sense. When someone dies unexpectedly, there
is often no rhyme or reason. Especially when it is a child just beginning their life.
There are times though when things don't happen as we expect, and later we are glad
they didn't work out. Maybe we make the wrong career choice, but find out, we are
happeir in the long run. Life is an exchange of hurdles and mountains to climb. And
sceling them, proves what we are worth as human beings. The more we struggle, the
stronger we become. And often, we are better for them than if we'd had smoothe
sailing.
Hi,
You ask interesting questions - this is not the first time I have answered a question of yours.
I think some things happen for a reason if you do stupid things eg Drive too fast or drink too much or are too tired and you will eventually have a car accident.
However in a cosmic sense I believe that Nothing happens for a reason for I do not believe in a higher being that involves itself in the affairs of man. I was a Christian for 50 years and do not agree with Paul's quote = "All things work together to the glory of God" (or something like that) in Romans 8 I think.
I have known several fine christian people who have died of cancer and also one from a virus they picked up - for no apparent reason and I could see no purpose or benefit in it -
I honestly believe in the randomness of life and that there is no rhyme nor reason or greater higher purpose ----and I suppose I will get plenty of thumbs down from the avid christians who read this BUT that is life and we just have to roll with the punches.
regards Mike d
PSS - take the thousands who die daily from hunger and malnutrition around the world? I can see no reason for that and if some christian says that it gives us an opportunity to show compassion - I think that is appalling.

Wednesday,
All things must happen for a reason. Maybe we know the reason, such as driving a car with bad brakes, and we get in a wreck because we couldn't stop. Then it is snowing today, there are atmospheric conditions that are right to cause this. Many times we may not know a reason nor can we figure one out.
seem so... based upon what I have seen in the last 66 years...... what else is to be said....... you tell me... what have you seen.... or anyone else for that matter.... that did not have some cause and effect involved..... ???
kid gets told not to do something... kid does it anyway... something bad happens..... who's fault is it?..... something good happens anyway.... who caused it.... what caused it.....
A drunk gets in a car and drives it down the road.... 99 time no accident happens.... that is recorded anyway.... then one time a van full of kids coming back from a ball game gets hit.... and all but one is killed.... and that one is the only one who put on the seat belt..... because his parents taught hime to do that..... but the drunk that hit the van was driven by his Father.... and the Father was not hurt........
an infinite number of "hoypothetical" stories could be made up in response to your post......
maybe there is some one out there who had an exceptional... life changing response.... but he logged off just before you posted.... so you do not get the answer you are looking for.... so you log off and go curse your mother.... she slaps you.... you are traumatized by that.... twenty years later you bust your kid in the chops for sassing you... who is to blame.... you or your mother... or the guy who does not answer properly to your YA post.......
So they say. I think when something happens no matter if it is good or bad you can look back and try to see a reason for why it happened. Often it's hard to rationalize things, though. Some things just happen....period.
Cause and effect. If you do everything right you will still have problems. There is a reason, you gain experience. However most people add a huge amount of adversity to their lives because of stupid conduct. That kind of adversity could have been avoided.
No, we have experienced so many things that are unreasonable. But it's human nature to CREATE a reason for everything so as to make ourselves feel better.
In y experience in this life, I believe it is so.
Sometimes we cannot make sense of it, maybe for a long time, maybe not in this lifetime.
