Why do people say this and is it just a case of jumping on the Cesar Milan Show bandwaggon . Why do people say that when a dog pees on ur things its disrepect how on earth do you know why they do it . They could just think that they are leaving you a present .. ?

dogs do not leave "presents" by peeing on your things.
when a dog pees on something, it is either they have to pee (usually just on the ground, from what I have seen and experienced -having dogs all my life, and breeding, handling and training) or if they are peeing on specific areas and things, it is a sign of dominance and leadership, and could be considered disrespectful if it is someone else's territory.
this is why dogs pee over each other's scents in parks, or at home, and cover a human's scent they deem to be dominant over...
I happen to believe a lot in what Cesar Millan does. I respect his beliefs, and his application of his theories show DEFINITE, positive results... There are LOTS of different behavior specialists, trainers, breeders and handlers, and each one of them has their own theories, and I am quite sure they also have lots of experience and would be considered experts in their own fields.
HOWEVER, I also have a lot of experience on my own, having had dogs for the last 40 YEARS.... HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN HANDLING ,BREEDING AND TRAINING DOGS? and WHAT IS YOUR EXPERIENCE WITH THESE ANIMALS?
I respect everyone's beliefs in how they should handle their dogs, and I also respect everyone's input in here, but I don't like it when someone has to put down someone else's beliefs or reputation because they think they know more or believe they are better than that person.
There is no need for that in here.
Its also called "marking"...their territory both males and females do this.
Like saying "this is mine...whizzz...this is mine too...whizzz
neutering a male sometimes helps this behavor or making them wear a belt made for male dogs to prevent this
I think they refer to people when they refer to dawgs peeing on your things. Yes it is disrespectful.
Well they certainly don''t consider it a 'gift.'
It is said to be a sign of direspect, because by 'marking' it (not for puppies, but adult dog who are houseboken) they are saying, "this is mine" Well, it isn't theirs, it's yours! If the dog doesn't know that much, then it's a good sign it doesn't think very highly of you, whether you ascribe to milan's theories or not.
NO NO NO!!! Dogs pee to own it....thats how they mark their territory and say *this is mine, screw you*. Have you ever hear of a pack of wolves and a lower rank dog peeing on the leaders bone *that he chews on for a toy*? NO!! The lower one would get is butt beat! It is disrespect and it needs to stop
Yeah :) Or have a sexual disorder of some kind? :)
This is not about Ceasar :) it's about basic dog knowledge :))
