Hi - I was wondering if I could replace my laptop's hard-drive with a higher-capacity laptop drive.
Currently it has: 40GB IDE Laptop Hard Drive, Toshiba MK4025GAS
I've been looking for other IDE laptop drives (Providing it's for laptops and IDE) - will any do?
Thanks!

If you are technically adept there is no reason you can not do so. The question is your ability to identify a suitable replacement drive, and then your ability to open up your machine and get everything back together! I have watched several laptop "surgeries" and it isn't that difficult - the key is knowing where to find the access points, how to take something off, and getting it back on.
Do a google search on your laptop and "harddrive replacement" or any other replacement item. You may find step by step instructions with photos -
Yes, you can always replace your hard drive. Even if it was lower capacity, they are still replaceable. No, it doesn't matter what brand of hard drive you use, just make sure that the hard drive you are looking to buy is compatible, or is going to work with, your model laptop. Good luck finding a hard drive!
Sure. That can be done. There are many small screws involved, so be sure to save them in order of removal. You may want to take a digital picture, print it out and stick the screws on it to remember where to return them.
yes replacing hdd is easy. But do bear in mind, you will have no operating system unless you ghost the old information over the the new hard drive, or reinstall windows.
i reccomending getting an external hard drive
