My husband just left to boot camp. After boot camp I am planning on moving on base, but I am living with my mom so I don t have a table or?
Couches I basically only have what goes in 1 room. Should I buy stuff for the house now while my husband is in boot camp or should I wait and buy things once I move out?
Wait till your husband finishes Basic and tech school or his individual job training and you join him at his first real duty station. Many posts have people and families coming and leaving all the time and moving on to their next assignment. They all have small groups or a base support group that takes in all the things people don't want to pack and take with them. Furniture, clothing, toys, dishes, and other household needs are donated and then handed back out to those coming in like yourself that might be lower ranking and not have a lot of money and need some things to set up their household.
There is ZERO guarantee that he has accompanied orders and if he does you get into base housing. There can be a wait list or you find a better place off base.
You need to wait to see where he is stationed before doing anything major. Now if you can get a small couch second hand from someone know/trust before you leave then better. Bed is something you should have, check garage sales/thrift stores for basic things and also store clearance racks
You mean after his job training is done. After boot, Marines, iirc, do infantry training, and then specific job training before they get their first permanent assignment. You need to wait until then. Don't buy stuff now. Wait until you get to where you will be for a few years and buy the stuff there. In the mean time, save as much of your hubby's pay as possible.
E-1/2 just don't move their family on base. You will likely live off base in the slummy part of town because that's all he can afford. More likely than not hubby will be in A and/or C Schools and will be busy studying and other Navy stuff..................
Buy it once you get to where you're going and know what your living situation will be
Every major post has a lending closet (free second hand store where people moving leave unwanted stuff) and a second hand store (same as the lending closet but the stuff is sold cheap with the proceeds going to family programs)
Wait until he gets to his first duty station. When he gets there, he can talk to ACS (Army Community Service) and see about getting items that are donated by other soldiers. I'm about to change duty stations and I just gave them a mattress and boxspring I won't be using at my next duty station, they gave it to an incoming soldier the same day.
wait till you get there. Having less stuff will make the first move much easier. Besides he still likely has AIT which will be more training after basic.
