Hi, I'm fifteen years old and make computer programs with Visual Basic and Visual C#. The best program I've made so far is a study tool that asks random questions (you can download it at my website, BenjiAlbrecht.weebly.com). I don't know anyone my age who knows how to make computer programs (or knows anything about computers to tell you the truth). Are most teenagers able to make programs like I do or am I extra talented or something. I just started getting into programming 4 or 5 months ago and, based on how much I've learned in that time, how much will I be able to improve over the next couple of years and would I be successful in pursuing a career that focuses on computer programming.
I'm curious about where I stand compared to an average fifteen year old and how successful I can be as an adult. Any answers, or suggestions, or anything would be greatly appreciated.

I agree that there aren't enough engineers, but too many techies and not enough artists? The demand for techies is much higher than the demand for artists. You will never find a source that says that the average art major graduate gets paid more than the average computer science graduate.

I'm guessing the study tool is a Visual C# or Basic WPF Application. I consider creating a study program like that using those technologies very easy. I don't think you're extremely intelligent for creating the study tool, but I think you're at least somewhat smart.
Most 15 year olds don't have any interest in programming, so I think that you are a definitely a step above. If you manage to keep that interest, you could eventually become a strong programmer, which will almost certainly lead to to high earnings (and unfortunately a higher chance of never getting a girlfriend. There's not many girls in computer science.)
Talent has two components: aptitude and motivation. Your aptitude seems decent, and your motivation is great! So, you're certainly talented, but I wouldn't call you extremely talented because there are a decent number of people that beat you in both categories and many that match you.
Hey Ben, the most incredible programmer I ever met was 19 when I met him. He could read programming language manuals and start producing software that evening. If somebody bought the pizza, he would have a pretty slick product before midnight. The young dude was not a math wizzard. He just had a feel. Last I saw of him, he was on the Discovery Channel with a homemade, 2-stage rocket.
So, my point is: in this life we have more than enough techies. We don't have enough artists. We don't have enough engineers.
At your age, don't dedicate everything into Microsoft technologies. Learn it and move on. If you want a financial homerun, consider the Mobile Electronics.
By the time you are 18 you will be pretty darn smart and programming helped you.
Visual Basic is usually for beginners. Everything is set up for you. I looked at your website and those aren't really like hard to implement. Your just adding up numbers.
It's a good start though. Actually, when I was 15 years old, there were computer science courses taken in school already.
Good luck.
=)
Hope that helps.

i think i might have found an equal! im only thirteen though!
i know alott of batch, im ok at html im good at visual basic and visual c+.
all of my friends know nothing about coding and if i asked them what html is they'd probably say the extension of the file they use to save porn or something.
i only started learning programing at the age of 12 ( 9 months ago) i learnt visual basic and visual C+ from other code snippets, i took some of the code apart and learnt what it does and how it works, i also am helped alot by the suggestions. i have made 9 programs to date with visual basic ( J-Hide,a password protected storage program, a dictionary and much more)
i am however friends with someone who is 19, he hacked my youtube, my hotmail, my webs account and my gmail account in 4 minutes. he has 5 desktop computers 2 laptops and has a large tree in the middle of his bedroom. he's current job is testing security, he hacks through it and gets paid just to rip off a challenge, he pretty much my idol.
i think your doin pretty well for your age (lol) and i think if you keep on learning programing you could be signed up to a big company, however i also agree with and i think you shouldnt just concentrate on programming, set your mind to other things and only program when your bored or have time to waste.
Most 15-year-olds COULD learn to do programming if they had the opportunity and the incentive; that is to say, it's not talent they lack. However, not very many are actually interested enough to pursue the field, particularly since it is regarded as 'nerdy' and thus with contempt in some circles.
