So, I really want an iPhone 3G. Unfortunately, they cost Alot (not the price of the phone, but the monthly service fee for internet, plus txting, and all that stuff. So I have been lookin around for another cool Smartphone that would have all that I want , and still be priced reasonably. I came across the Blackberry Curve 8310. From the reviews I've seen online (and from a friend who has one) it sounds like an awesome phone, but I just wanna know if the Internet on the Blackberry is fast enough (fast as in "broadband" or "cable modem" or "wifi" quality). I want a phone with a fast internet, and also I was wondering, how does the iPhone 3G stack up against the Blackberry Curve 8310 in terms of Cellphone Reception, Internet Service, Apps and all that good stuff? What I'm really asking is....In your opinion, which phone do you think is better? Which one do you like more? Which one would you choose? (but also answer my question on the speed of the Blackberry Curve's internet speed).

I don't think the bottom two fellas even bothered answering your question. I would just recommend you to buy a Blackberry Curve. I am in the same situation as you and I am also debating between a Curve (EDGE device) and Blackberry Bold (3G device - just as the iPhone). 3G is the fastest mode of mobile internet and its data is transmitted directly from your cell phone provider's network. However, 3G internet pricing options are quite more expensive than EDGE ones. EDGE is a bit slower than 3G but I wouldn't worry too much about it as long as you are not concerned with video/audio streaming. For viewing normal webpages like Facebook, My Space, etc. you should be fine. The time taken to load Facebook in EDGE and 3G isn't drasticially more and definitely not worth paying $80 a month for iPhone's expensive data plan. Even 3G is not comparable to wi-fi as wifi is the fastest mode of internet viewing on a mobile device than 3G. So, the question boils down to what's faster? 3G or EDGE? Answer is 3G but the tradeoff that I explained above should apply to you.
In terms of cell phone reception, both iPhone and Curve 8310 feature a GSM 850Mhz band which is commonly used by many North American cell phone providers such as Rogers, Fido, AT&T, etc. Thus, the cell phone quality should be about equivalent in both the phones. There does exist a problem of scarcity of available applications for the Curve 8310; however, installing free applications in an iPhone 3G requires jailbreaking it and jailbreaking VOIDS your phone warranty. But Blackberry OS is reaching out in the market and availability of blackberry applications in the long run should not be a problem (atleast in my opinion)
In a nutshell, if I were you, I would buy a Bold for $149 from AT&T with a 2 or 3 yr contract opposed to buying a $200 iPhone 3G and paying high internet data rates. Also, iPhone 3G lacks a few features that you DO get even in low entry cell phones. Features such as Bluetooth file sharing, camera flash, a physical QWERTY keyboard (preferred more by me than the digital iPhone keyboard), and push e-mail (which is what Blackberries are meant for)
iPhone, yes the touch screen can be hard, but it is easy to use. Best internet on a mobile phone, if you want to have an expensive phone with crappy internet connections when you could get an iPhone, best internet, for less, iPhone beats Blackberry anyday. btw you will get used to the touch screen I promise, I have one
Blackberry curve. iphone sucks. It dosen't have anything. Its all hype. It can't text pictures, it can't record video, it had connection issues, no mobileTV, no ATT services, most apps are pointless and dumb, no external memory so your stuck with your limit, too itunes centric, low speakerphone, no bluetooth, no flash for its web browser so your stuck with just youtube for videos, and the camrea dosen't have any features or flash. No zoom, no color effects, no frams, no brightness settings, no built in FM radio, too many people have it, it ends up costing more in plans, it dosen't have a slot for cell phone key chains, it is really hard to text on the digital QWERTY keyboard. Its no good.
The iPhone is 3G its like a portable modem.
And blackberry not.
Limelight is wrong..
Iphones better, when you unlock your iphone and jailbreak it u can have more than a blackberry can have.. you can get any kind of software, u can get video recorder also u can edit em from color to white and black you can change ur display, 3D games, when u hack ur iphone.. its an unstopabble machine.
Bye
iPhone any way. I've just got it. Yeah, thats damn true. iPhone does not cost much itself but, the monthly service is too much. Mine costs $80 monthly, Includes Internet, Calling, iPod, Youtube and alot of more stuff.
