okay... im looking for a big dog that loves to cuddle and would be okay off the leash out in public like if i were to take them to the beach or the park to play fetch. i absolutely love love love the rottweilers but my only fear is that it will be hard to socialize them because of other peoples fear of them. im also looking for a dog that is good with other dogs.. i know basically any dog can be good at all these things with the proper training but im just woundering what some people personal experiences are... i love shepherds and bernese mountain dogs i just think that there is too much hair there for me..hahha.. thanks for reading and i hope you have some good stories for me

O I'm so happy to answer you question! Your fear with the rottweiler is very common but they are not impossible to train. They are Alpa dogs meaning they like to take charge so a stern trainer is needed. I respect you love for the rottie but you've described a totally different dog!!! From your description i believe a golden retriever would be best. They are very eager to please and easy to train, however, I noticed that you don't like lots of hair and their is a quick fix for that! You could get a goldendoodle. That's a mix between a golden retriever and a poodle. They hardly shed and they are EXTREMELY SMART! With your expectations i be live this is your dog breed!

There is a very good reason that Labradors and Goldens are so common - they are wonderful family dogs, easy to train (BUT you still have to train them), and they tend to be good with kids. That last thing can be crucial, because if you get another less reliable breed, you could end up with the heartbreak of not having it work out, or worse, having a kid nipped or bitten. Look up the breed club, and find their breeder referral list. You can call a couple of the breeders in your area, or apply to breed rescue - Lab Rescue has oodles of black Labs, as does Animal Rescue New Orleans, and they would almost all be wonderful family pets. You could save a deserving life in the process, and have a wonderul rescue story to tell. They can arrange transport to almost anywhere in the US and Canada. Although these two breeds are not 'small', the ensuing problems with most other breeds would negate the saller size - the wrong dog is the wrong dog, no matter what the size, and the most damage I have ever witnessed to a home was done by two Jack Russells, accidentally liberated from their crate for an hour. Good luck!
A Golden Retriever! They might shed a lot but I know a secret to take away some of the hair. Brush him once a day for 2 minutes this will get all the deep and dead hair that is causing the sheding. Goldens are very loyal and will stay by you on a walk or at the beach. Also they LOVE socializing with other dogs. They also love cuddling! I cuddle with my Golden every night! Please choose a Golden they are great dogs! Good luck
I assume by too much hair you have allergies?
When looking for a dog you should ask yourself these questions:
Am I allergic?
Do I have kids or small children around?
Do I have enough space where I live?
Will I be able to pay for veterinarian visits (Certain dogs get sick more often)?
Am I active?
For allergies, some dogs are a sort of "hypo-allergenic" breed.
List here: http://www.dogbreedinfo.com/allergy.htm
For small children: http://www.gopetsamerica.com/dogs/dogs-good-with-k...
If you live in a small space, a smaller dog would be appropriate.
Bigger dogs, of course, need bigger areas.
Some bigger breeds of dogs carry many medical problems because of their size.
Active dogs, like Dalmatians, need to be taken out on walks at least once a day.
This list also includes Siberian husky, Border collie, German short-haired, etc.
And some personal experience, don't get a chow.
I have a chow, and its a great dog.
But its SUPER protective and most cannot be trained.
Chows are some of the most stubborn dogs there are.
Edit:
Also, if you can, try and pick a dog out of the pound.
Its less expensive, and your saving a dog from being put down!
:)
well as a rottie owner. i see you could get along with it i take mine up on long hikes off leash and he stays right by me. although once he sees another dog/deer he takes off after them. but you may be very well able to train that out of him. he is a great cuddling dog even great with kids i have to mention that they do shed twice a year and a LOT so be ready! he is also very nice with other people (mostly tired) you do have to have a little more energy to train them (compared to my chihuahua) but they learn quickly
anyway in addition to everyone else's answers i hope this helps!
WADR, you need to honestly ask yourself why you want such a dog because they can be difficult to train, will be very expensive to feed and keep, and require a huge commitment of time from you for the next fifteen years.
My suggestion: miniature poodle.
I have a 2 year old lab and he is the best dog i have ever had. I can take him anywhere with me and he stays right by my side. They are very sweet and loyal dogs that are always by your side. I definitely recomend a lab for a dog that you trust with other dogs , kids, and staying with you. good luck!
What could be more rewarding than picking a dog from your local pound? Big and fun is best for me
A minor cannot purchase or adopt a dog, you are only 15.
ARMINA, Labs come in ONE size only.
some kind of mastiff? they are large breed, quite innactive indoors but do enjoy a walk, run, and there's not much hair. someone i know has one and really liked to be stroked/cuddle as well.
