If Airplanes burned fuel from coal (as the Air Force has begun to do), would the price of oil per barrel effect the US Airline Industry?
Is drilling for more poison the antidote?

Since cars do not come close to attaining 300mpg, what is the point of your question? There's an old saying, "If wishes were horses, beggars would ride." Let's talk reality, not science fiction.
Edit: After reading the info on this vehicle, it seems to be not much more than an enclosed motorcycle. While that may prove useful for commuting, I would question its ability to handle steep hills, bad road conditions and carry packages.
Since this vehicle cannot replace trucks and farm tractors, $6/gal gas would definitely matter. The same for fuel oil for heating which is closely related to gas prices.
It will still matter since oil is used for many more purposes than automobiles. How will the Aptera hybrid help staunch the use of gasoline for airplanes for example? Do you kow how much oil and gasoline are consumed by a ship on a one week cruise? Picture the Atlantic Fleet. Imagine the half a million big rig truckers on the road transporting our food. It takes 200-300 gallons of diesel to fill a big rig. Will that hybrid help the people who use oil as fuel to heat their homes? How many people will be owning that car? Everyone on my block would have to chip in to be able to afford one. The people who can afford that car, can afford to buy gas. The people who cannot afford to buy that car, would still be stuck with the high price of gas. So once again the lower middle class takes it up the butt. I'm not saying not to pursue alternate energy sources. What I'm saying is that car (and others like it), in and of itself does not provide the solution. That was your question.
That's just great. Aptera? 300 mpg? Now I'm gonna become obsessed with researching it. Thanks, Chi.
Future generations would probably like some oil, too. Until they can get the oil shale out of the ground, there won't be any new oil fields saving us from high gas prices short term. Speculation regulations and conservation should get the price back down to the $3.20 range until we can get our govt. Aptera checks. Yippee!!
Yes. For a full fill up at the pump it would cost 1800 dollars. People don't have 100 dollars to spend on a fill up, do you think they're going to have over 1000?
Would that car ever pass US emissions and the US hiway safety standards? Let alone be warm in the winter...
How about we make our own fuel for $4.50 a gallon?

Our politicians would ban them from the highway, because they were either unsafe, bad for the environment, caused "Global Warming", or some other lie. Remember who they really work for.
Yes it would...Unless Al Gore can get to my house before October and switch me over to solar power I am completely screwed this winter....I don't expect you to care either....
